The Secret of Youth
I’ve seen people who are over 65 that can still play tennis like a kid, some can do push ups and chin ups more than 20 year old men! I even know many triathletes who are still competing in their 70’s and 80’s and most of them didn’t even start training until they were 50 years old.
So you probably understand that the secret of anti-aging is to keep moving, but how does this work?
When you are doing exercise your heart rate goes up, your pituitary gland sends a signal to your liver to produce more insulin. “Insulin like Growth –Factor” (IGF-1), is produced and this is the key to anti –aging!
Growth hormone is a powerful anabolic hormone that occurs naturally in the human body. It is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain and stimulates the growth of muscle, cartilage, and bone.
It is made throughout a person's lifetime but is more plentiful during youth. It stimulates growth in children and plays an important role in adult metabolism.
Ok, so enough of the science lesson – this is my point and what you really need to know!
Basically doing regular exercise is the key to keeping the mind and body young. A 30 minute aerobic session can easily increase GH by a good 100% and a solid session of weight training can increase levels by an incredible 400-800%!! So now you know why weight training is more crucial then aerobics training.
