TAKE THE PLUNGE!
Swimming is an effective way to exercise, and is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Simply playing in the water is beneficial BUT of course to reap real benefits why not consider scheduling a swimming session twice a week for yourself and your kids.
Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture and flexibility. Our bodies are buoyant in water so a swimming workout is virtually injury free. Water exercises benefit seniors, pregnant women, arthritis sufferers or those with injuries. In water, body weight is 1/10 of what it is on land, so range of motion in water is much easier. An added benefit is that movement in water has 12 times greater resistance than movement in air.
SPLASHING, wading, and paddling — it must mean a great day in the water for KIDS! Playing at the beach, at a water park, by a lake can be a real treat on a hot day – so what better way than to have one of our instructors come to your condo’s pool and teach your kids to swim first!
For pregnant women, water exercise strengthens and tones the muscles used during childbirth, and helps women safely lose weight and regain body tone post-pregnancy. For the elderly, water fitness is safe, it fills the need for exercise, it increases the body's range of motion and it's a low-impact exercise.
Why do you swim? For the health benefits to your heart and lungs? For the chance to be with some of your friends by the pool? Because, in your case, running everyday hurts? Because you like the feeling of floating and sliding through the water? Or is it something else? If you are looking for a break from the heat of Bangkok, then a dip in the water is exactly what you need. Swimming is a great way for you to cool off. It fills a wonderful recreational need for individuals and families.
Maybe you are a runner, training on a regular basis, and want to find an activity that keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off of your body. Perhaps you have been doing some other form of land exercise, and now an injury prevents you from putting weight on a knee or ankle.
There are other psychological benefits to swimming too! RELAX and ENJOY the swim with very low effort. Let your mind wander free, focus on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke. This form of meditation can help you gain a feeling of well-being, leaving your water session refreshed and ready to go on with the rest of your day…
